I have been offering a range of medicated alcohol detox services since 2007. As of 27 December 2014 I will be letting my CQC registration lapse, after which I will not be providing detox services.
Between now and then, I will be providing a more limited range of services; please see below.
Friendly, sensible, expert treatment
I offer a range of one-to-one private alcohol treatment programmes, from prescription detox medication to psychological support. I see people in their home or in my Exeter consulting room, so you won't have to admit yourself to a clinic or talk in a group. I am a single-handed practice, and do all client work personally - you won't be fobbed off with agency staff. My service is Registered by the Care Quality Commission under the Health and Social Care Act 2008. You can read more about me here.
Professional help that isn't 12-Step
Unlike many private services, I don't use the 12-step programme used in Alcoholics Anonymous. You can read about my treatment style here.
Specially designed programmes
My different programmes are designed to help a wide range of people: however it's worth noting that compared to other services (like intensive home treatment, rehab or hospital detox) it's a low intensity service that isn't designed for people who are unwell, chaotic or not motivated to receive treatment.
Home Alcohol Detoxification Programmes
My home alcohol detox services are available across all of England & Wales. Prescriptions for medication, monitoring, psychological help, family support and 3 months of aftercare are all included, using my structured sensible programme. I provide all services personally, and never use agency staff.

Not sure what you need?
Assessment & Planning Appointment
✓ 2 Hour Appointment
✓ Written feedback
✓ Follow-up telephone session
✓ Copy of my book
£120 in my Exeter consulting room
If you don't know what to do, it may be useful to book a one-off assessment & planning session with me. We can talk through all aspects of your drinking, and come up with a range of different options and possible ways forward. At the end you'll have a much clearer idea of the next steps you can take, which may or may not involve further help from me.
This service includes a printed copy of my self-help guide; a written summary of my advice; a follow-up phone call.
If you can visit me in my consulting room in Exeter, the fee for this is £120. Alternatively, you can invite me to visit you at home: I'll agree a fee for this with you on the telephone.
Who am I?
I've been a specialist nurse in drug & alcohol dependence since 1994. I trained as a psychiatric nurse in 1989 after graduating in psychology. In 2007 I started my own single-handed private practice specialising in treating clients with alcohol dependence. You can check my professional registration here, and read more about me here.
Integrity and Honesty
I value my professionalism above all else.
I only take on work which I believe will be safe and effective. If I suggest another service to you I never accept a referral fee or commission from that service; I never pay a referral fee or commission to other services or agents.
Family and friends
I'm happy to see clients with their partner, other family members or a friend.
