Do you need a detox?
As a rough guide, people who drink daily, and who shake & sweat if they don't drink will need a detox. Read more about detox here.
If you're reasonably healthy and have someone else around to support you, you'll probably be able to detox at home if you choose: read more. Alternatively, you can have an alcohol detox in a hospital or clinic. If you're physically dependent on alcohol, please be wary of trying DIY detox. It's not safe.
You can read a bit about stopping drinking here. Just because you don't need a detox doesn't mean you won't benefit from some good advice about planning
Aftercare
Once you've stopped drinking, you need to work hard to stay stopped.
Relapse
Hopefully it won't come to this, but if you relapse, its not necessarily catastrophic.
